The Swiss Virtual Campus programme is part of a process aimed at promoting the information society in Switzerland as well as enabling education - in particular higher education - to take advantage of the opportunities now available through new information and communication technology.

Using NAHRIS is free of charge. Target groups are, on the one hand, researchers and students of Swiss Federal and Cantonal research institutions as well as persons working and studying at universities of applied sciences. Even students of secondary schools may be interested in working with this course. On the other hand, the course may also be interesting for the worldwide research community working in the field of natural hazards and risk management.

The principal concrete aim of the programme is to develop accessible teaching modules through the Internet for basic and specialized study programmes. Users are offered the possibility to participate in web-based courses that can be used independently of time and space.
